Frequently Asked Questions

Mediation v Family Courts
Mediation typically costs around £500 per person in most cases, including the intial Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting (MIAM) and follow-up sessions. In contrast, going through the courts with solicitors often costs many thousands of pounds, commonly over £10,000 per person and can take several months and often years to resolve. Mediation, once all information has been established, can reach resolution in a matter of weeks.

What Can Be Discussed in Mediation?
Family Mediation is a safe & structured space for separating couples. Any issues can be discussed, including arrangements for children, financial matters, including pensions, assets, property, debts. It also aims to focus on practical & emotional aspects, such as communication and future routines and arrangements.

- This can be then made legally binding through a consent order to the court.
